I've been here close to a week and we have a real routine. We still do LOTS of walking and at all hours, but I also get to play outside with the other dogs that live here. There was another dog here for a night. He looked a lot like me, but he had a short stay because he had a family waiting for his arrival. My story is not the same... I had some interest, but nothing definite like my pal Quincy. But things are looking up :)
I have a family who is very excited to meet me on Sunday morning. With any luck, my next blog update will be from my new family. My foster mom told me not to think about this meeting at all. If it doesn't work out, she said I'm staying here until the perfect family comes along and believe it or not, there is a line. Someone is waiting, so it's not going to take long.
We are still working on training. I'm a master at Sit, I'm pretty good with Down and I'm learning Wait. My foster mom learned I know NO and OFF well -- SO WHAT if my last family had to use those a lot with me... My foster mom thinks I'm smart because it's just a couple more commands to add to my repertoire.
My foster mom is treating me like a puppy. She's learned I'm not totally housebroken yet. I do well in the crate, but when I come out, if I don't get outside quickly, I have an accident. She says it's her fault because she didn't realize and I feel bad because she gets upset - so we are going to work on it together. Like she said, I'm a quick learner so she's not worried a bit.
Talk to you soon and maybe with some good news - if you could see me, you'd see my butt wiggling because my tail is waggin so fast. Even though I'm not supposed to be excited, I am!
